All-State Choirs

Maddie Brawley, Erin Burks, Chloe Crabtree, and Abbie Wilson performed in the 2016 WVMEA All-State Chamber Choir. Abbie received a solo in their selection "Balleilakka."

The choir had a great time working with director Kym Scott and composer-in-residence Sydney Guillaume. The students premiered his composition "Tchaka," which was commissioned specifically for them. Since the rest of the program was very multicultural, Mr. Guillaume decided to bring the language, melodies, and rhythms from his home country of Haiti into the composition. Many students said it was their favorite piece of the program. Here's the recording from the concert:

In the same concert, Philip Wilson and Emily Verdill sang in the WVACDA Middle School / Jr. High All-State Chorus. They had a great time with director Ryan Beekan.
