I'll be making two presentations at this conference.
Surveys of Commercial Music Degree Programs
Friday, June 16, 3:40-4:10pm
The first is with colleagues Matthew Edwards and Kat Reinhert regarding two surveys that are currently underway:
A SURVEY OF CURRICULUM IN COMMERCIAL MUSIC DEGREE PROGRAMS
The purpose of this survey is to gather information about the singing curriculum in programs that focus primarily on the study of commercial/popular music genres. Results of this survey will provide insight into these programs. Results will also provide valuable information for graduate pedagogy programs whose students may eventually apply for jobs in commercial music programs.
A SURVEY OF VOICE FACULTY IN COMMERCIAL MUSIC DEGREE PROGRAMS
The objective of this survey is to gather information about voice training and voice faculty in undergraduate commercial music programs. Results of the survey will provide insight into these degree programs and valuable information to graduate pedagogy programs whose students may eventually apply for jobs in commercial voice programs. The information could also prove valuable to those interested in developing continuing education opportunities for CCM voice teachers.
Explore the Extremes to Master the Middle
Saturday, June 17 between 11:40-12:30pm
I'll be helping teachers develop exercises with sounds on more extreme ends of the sound spectrum to help students sound better in the middle, where most singing happens.
